Each year the state of Georgia hosts two annual
homeschool conferences. One is held in May and is sponsored by GHEA which is the
Georgia Homeschool Educators Association and the other one known as the SE
Homeschool Expo is held in July and is sponsored by Georgia Homeschool. We are
fortunate to live in a state that has very relaxed laws and requirements for
homeschoolers (you may visit
www.ghea.org for more information on Georgia’s homeschool laws). There
are also several support groups available in our state that varies in focus from
academic support to legal support. There is also a tremendous amount of
diversity in curriculum to choose from as well. The Wisdom’s Way Board of
Directors recognizes each family has their own God given responsibility to
choose the curriculum and schedule that best suits their needs. We also
understand that choosing curriculum can be both overwhelming and expensive. One
of the benefits of being a part of a sup-port group such as Wisdom’s Way is to
glean from other members about current homeschool topics, events, and
curriculum. Within the past couple of years the government has offered parents a
curriculum program with the option to homeschool at home while partnering with
local schools to pro-vide free materials for their at home school room. This
program is known as K12 or
Georgia’s Virtual Academy.
On behalf of the Wisdom’s Way Board of
directors, we felt the responsibility to provide Wisdom’s Way families with the
opportunity to have access to a DVD provided by GHEA and released by the
National Alliance of Christian Home Education Leadership entitled Exposing a
Trojan Horse. The purpose of the video is to provide insight and education to
those families that are considering government funded school-at-home programs.
Wisdom’s Way is not endorsing this curriculum; we simply want to provide our
members with a chance to learn more about future ramifications of this
government-funded program. can visit
www.ghea.org to view a
trailer of the video and for further interest please contact Kim Turner,
Wisdom’s Way President at
kim.turner@wwche.org
to borrow the video.
